Samsung launched its Galaxy S23 series smartphones earlier this month and now, the devices are receiving their first ever software update which includes the February security patch. Notably, other flagships from Samsung, such as the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and the Z Flip 4 received this patch alongside the One UI 5.1 update in mid-February.
The Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+ and S23 Ultra came with the January security patch out of the box, and this update brings it up to February 1, 2023. The changes include 48 security improvements which are common to Android 13 phones and while 7 are there for Samsung’s One UI.
This update has been spotted on unlocked phones across the European region and should become available in the other markets in the coming days. At the time of writing this article, we haven’t received the patch on our review unit of the Galaxy S23 here in India. On the S23, the update weighs just over 500MB, while on the Ultra model it is slightly bigger.

The Galaxy S23 series is slated to receive 4 major Android OS upgrades and 5 years of security patches. In other words, one can expect to see Android 14, 15, 16 and 17 alongside the regularly scheduled security patches till 2028.
The Galaxy S23 Ultra is available in three colours in India, including Phantom Black, Green and Cream. The device is also p available in four exclusive colours- Red, Graphite, Lime and Sky Blue -only on Samsung.com. It comes in three variants such as 12GB + 256GB priced at Rs 1,24,999, 12GB + 512GB at Rs 1,34,999 and 12GB + 1TB at Rs 1,54,999.
