Samsung is reported to be planning an upgraded version of its popular Galaxy S2 smartphone. To be called Galaxy S2 Plus, the new handset will feature Android 2.3.4 OS, a WVGA display and a CPU clocked at 1.5 GHz.
PocketNow.com has reported that the phone will be showcased at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) to be held in Barcelona at the end of February.
The current version of Galaxy S2 has a 1.2 GHz Exynos processor. It will not be the first Plus version by Samsung. The Korean handset maker recently launched Galaxy S Plus, an upgraded edition of Galaxy S.
If the news is true it will be disappointing to see Android 2.3.4 on such a powerful handset since Android 4.0 is already available.
Samsung is also rumored to be preparing the Galaxy S3, which will feature a quad core processor, Android 4.0 and a 12 Megapixel camera, among other improvements. However, reports also suggest that the Galaxy S3 will not come to MWC.
