Samsung launched the new Galaxy On Nxt today and it will be available after 8 PM. With that, we tried to find the closest competitor and what we found was Asus Zenfone 3 Laser which was recently launched as well. While Galaxy On Nxt is priced at Rs 18,499, Zenfone 3 Laser is selling at Rs 18,999 on Flipkart. Let’s keep these devices side to side and compare them on the basis of specifications.
Design and Display
Starting with the design, Zenfone 3 Laser come with sandblasted aluminium body with rounded sides and diamond-cut chamfered edges. Regarding the display, it features a 5.5 inch full HD (1920 x 1080) IPS display which Asus claims is ideal for any multi-media usage. On the other hand, Galaxy On Nxt will come with full metallic body design with 5.5 inch 1080p Full HD display which will in fact be a 2.5D curved panel. In Zenfone 3 Laser, the fingerprint scanner is at the back while in Galaxy On the scanner is embedded in the Home Button. So you have a choice to make at least there. Other than that, both the devices feature the same display panel. Surprisingly, Samsung didn’t include an AMOLED panel in On Nxt.
Processor and Memory
A smartphone should not judged just by its looks. The real story happens underneath. On the Zenfone 3 Laser, we have a 64-bit Octa-Core 1.4 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 Chipset and Adreno 505. For multi-tasking it comes with 4GB RAM plus there is 32GB internal storage which can be expanded up to 256GB via a micro SD card.
Whereas, Samsung Galaxy On Nxt comes with a 1.6 GHz Octa-Core Exynos 7870 processor with Mali T830 MP1 GPU for graphics. It also comes with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage which is also expandable up to 128 GB via micro SD card. So not much to choose here. Further, both the devices run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow though both the devices have their respected Android skins on top. Asus Zen UI 3.0 in the case of Zenfone 3 Laser.
Camera
Asus Zenfone 3 Laser offers a 13 Megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, laser auto focus, and Electronic Image Stabilization. At its front, there is an 8 Megapixel camera for selfies. The second generation laser focus system on the phone, has a range of 1.5 meters, which is twice the distance of other laser focus systems, claims Asus.
Samsung Galaxy On Nxt sports a 13-megapixel primary camera with Auto, Beauty Face, Continuous Shot, HDR (High Dynamic Range), Interval Shot, Night, Panorama, Pro, Selfie, Sports, Sound and Shot, Wide Selfie. On the front, there is a 5-megapixel secondary camera. Interestingly, both the cameras on On Nxt come with LED flash light. Samsung has always been known for their good performing cameras and we expect On Nxt to be the same. However, the real comparison can only be done once we keep both the phones side by side for a detailed camera comparison.
Battery and Connectivity
In the battery department, Galaxy On Nxt has an EDGE with 3300 mAh battery compared to 3000 mAh battery in Zenfone 3 Laser.
For connectivity, both the phones offer WiFi, GPS with A-GPS etc. Bluetooth v4.1 is in Galaxy On Nxt and v4.2 in Zenfone 3 Laser. Both the devices have micro USB port for charging and data syncing. And yes, both of them have a 3.5 mm Headphone jack. Zenfone 3 Laser comes with VoLTE capability but there is no information about Galaxy On Nxt. Flipkart, for instance, hasn’t mentioned that device has VoLTE capability or not but it is most likely to have it.
Wrapping Up
Both the Asus Zenfone 3 Laser as well as Galaxy On Nxt comes as close as two smartphones can come in terms of specifications if we ignore the entirely different processor manufacturers. Even some of the downsides such as lack of USB Type-C are shared by both the devices. However, given the choice it really depends on personal preference or maybe brand preference here. VoLTE can be an important aspect for Jio enthusiasts. Yes, Galaxy On Nxt comes with a larger battery but it has inferior front facing camera at least in terms of megapixels. At the end of the day, its your call. Performance on both the devices will be pretty equal and comparable.
