Samsung is now reportedly rolling out the Android 9.0 Pie update to the Galaxy J8 smartphone in India. The update is said to include most of Android Pie features alongside Samsung’s One UI on top. The new development comes just days after the Galaxy J6 was rolled out Android Pie update in India.
The Android Pie update for the Samsung Galaxy J8 brings software version J810GDDU2BSD5/J810GODM2BSD5/J810GDDU2BSC6, as per a report by TizenHelp. With the latest update, users will now be able to use the all-new OneUI from Samsung.
The update is 1196 MB in size and it carries April 1st Android security patch to the device. The latest UI features newly designed controls at the bottom with larger search box or text at the first half, which it claims will be easier to navigate as compared to its predecessor. Apart from this, users will be able to use new gesture controls, vertical volume controls, a new pill-shaped icon for navigations, refined notifications and Quick Settings and new power menu among others.
Since the update is being rolled out over-the-air, it may take some time before it comes to your device and will reach all the users in the coming weeks. One can also manually check for the update by going to Settings ->About Phone -> Software Update. Before starting the update, your device should be at least 50% charged with a stable Wi-Fi network.
To recall the specs, theGalaxy J8 was launched at Rs 18,990 in June last year.The phone later received a price cut of Rs 3,000 and now it retails for Rs 15,990.
The Galaxy J8 features a 6-inch HD+ Super AMOLED Display with a resolution of 1480 x 720 pixels. The device is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 SoC with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. It has a dual camera setup of 16MP f/1.7 Aperture + 5MP f/1.9 aperture rear cameras. For selfies, there is a 16-megapixel sensor with an f/1.9 aperture at the front.
The fingerprint scanner is housed at the back below the camera modules. It also supports a Face Unlock feature. The device has a 3,500mAh battery. In terms of connectivity, Galaxy J8 will feature 4G VoLTE support, Bluetooth v4.2, WiFi and GPS and will still retain the traditional Headphone jack. It measures 159.2×75.7×8.2mm.
