Samsung ChatON comes to BlackBerry

Samsung has released Samsung ChatON service for the BlackBerry Torch 9800 and promised to add support for more devices.

Samsung’s cross-platform Instant service – ChatON is now available on RIM’s BlackBerry platform as well. At this moment, the Samsung ChatON works only on the RIM BlackBerry Torch 9800 smartphone. The device owners need to feed this URL- www.chaton.com/download.html, in their mobile web browsers to download the Samsung ChatON.
Samsung’s instant messaging service, ChatON has been available for all major mobile operating systems except Windows Mobile platform. Samsung ChatON service allows sharing images, files long with regular text exchange between registered users. The requires access to the smartphone’s phonebook app to check if any users are already using the service. If not then the owner gets to send those contacts an invite to use ChatON.

The customisable ChatON service allows sharing multimedia and gives one tap access to all the multimedia received through a Trunk shaped icon. Do note that the Samsung ChatON service is free but you do get charged for the mobile data connection.

This app is already available for Google Android, Samsung Bada and Apple platforms. Now with its availability for the RIM BlackBerry platform, the company expects more users to join in. At this moment, the ChatON for BlackBerry works only for BlackBerry Torch 9800 device model. Samsung has promised to expand the portfolio of supported devices.
