At the Samsung Developer Conference 2019, Samsung has announced the Galaxy Book Flex and Galaxy Book Ion as two new products under the premium laptop segment. The Flex offers a 360-degree hinge design while the Ion offers a traditional laptop profile.
Samsung Galaxy Book Flex
The Galaxy Book Flex comes in 13.3-inch and 15.6-inch screen configurations with a Full HD QLED panel that offers a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, 16:9 aspect ratio and 10-point multi-touch functionality. The display is attached to a 360-degree hinge which provides a 2-in-1 form factor and the internals are housed inside an aluminium body.
The Flex is powered by a 10th generation Intel Core Ice Lake Processor with Intel Iris Plus Graphics / Intel UHD Graphics / NVIDIA GeForce MX250 Graphics, up to 16GB RAM and up to 1TB SSD storage. The device runs on Windows 10 Home or Pro and comes with Windows Hello sign in through a fingerprint scanner.
There’s a built-in S-Pen with gesture controls and the device offers AKG Stereo Speakers with Smart Amp. Connectivity options include WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, two Thunderbolt 3 ports, USB Type-C port and headphone/microphone port. The Flex comes with a 69.7Wh battery with Wireless PowerShare and has a 720p HD camera with a dual-microphone array.
Samsung Galaxy Book Ion
The Galaxy Book Ion also comes in 13.3-inch and 15.6-inch screen configurations and an FHD QLED Display with 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution, 16:9 aspect ratio and 10-point multi-touch functionality. The laptop has a Clamshell frame and ultrathin design made using ultralight magnesium.
The laptop is powered by a 10th generation Intel Core Comet Lake processor with Intel UHD Graphics and NVIDIA GeForce MX250 Graphics, up to 16GB + 1 Sodimm RAM and 1TB SSD storage. Connectivity options include WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, Thunderbolt 3 ports, two USB 3.0 ports, HDMI, UFS/microSD card slot and headphone/microphone port.
The Galaxy Book Ion features AKG Stereo Speakers with Smart Amp and a 69.7Wh battery with Wireless PowerShare. There’s a fingerprint scanner which supports Windows Hello sign-in and a 720p HD camera and Dual Array Mic combo for video calling. The laptop runs on Windows 10 Home or Pro.
Samsung is yet to reveal the prices of the Galaxy Book Flex and Galaxy Book Ion but the devices are slated to arrive in select markets in December 2019.
