RIP Samsung Galaxy Note 7

Reportedly, Samsung has now decided to offer Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge to the existing owners of Note 7.

On October 7, The Mobile Indian was the first tech website to suggest Samsung to stop making the ill-fated Galaxy Note 7 and the Korean company seems to have listened to suggestion. On Tuesday, it announced its decision to discontinue the Galaxy Note 7 which has been marred in controversies ever since its launch in August this year.

The decision came after the replaced model of Note 7 too caught fire.

“Taking our customer’s safety as our highest priority, we have decided to halt sales and production of the Galaxy Note 7,” the company said.

Samsung even advised Galaxy Note 7 users world-wide to immediately switch off their original or replacement Note 7s. Earlier the company had asked telecom carriers and retailers to stop selling the Note 7.

Samsung shares had tumbled after the Tuesday announcement and as per estimates Note 7 would cost Samsung up to $2.8 billion.

Reportedly, Samsung has now decided to offer Galaxy S7 or S7 to the existing owners of Note 7.

Samsung’s loss though would bring cheers to its rivals, especially Apple and Google whose iPhone 7 and phones stand to gain the most.
