Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Jio will commercially launch its 4G services next month (August), according to Economic Times.
The website further added that the services will be launched on August 15 and hence the first plan to be launched as Freedom as a reference to India’s Independence day.
“The Reliance Industries-owned telecom company’s maiden plan — likely to be called Freedom — may offer free voice services bundled with data, priced at least 25% lower than current offerings of top rivals,†ET further added.
To avail of the free voice plan, Jio subscribers will need to buy data packs, which will offer 1GB at around Rs 80, the website quoted its sources as saying.
Reliance Jio was earlier expected to roll out the services in June this year when it started selling its SIMs with LYF smartphones. It also launched its website, Jio.com, and is allowing people to get the connection.
Reliance Jio has pan India 4G spectrum which it acquired in 2010. It currently holds spectrum in 2300 MHz, 850 MHz and 1800 MHz bands.
