Ookla, whose Speedtest App is being used by lakhs of netizens, have revealed something that is being feared by many. The internet speed checking service provider has revealed that Reliance Jio’s speed is decreasing over the last few months, dashing hopes of many Indians who perhaps thought that after Jio’s entry the internet speeds in India is slated to witness a steep northward movement.
“It looks like mean download speeds for 4G capable phones actually decreased 23% month-over-month from 11.31 Mbps to 8.77 Mbps, continuing a downward trend for 2016,” Ookla said in its latest report.
It cited a report of Rtn-Asia which stated that Jio’s “networks are being stretched to their breaking pointâ€.

Notably, Jio doesn’t have a vast user base as its rivals like Bharti Airtel and Vodafone. And this was feared by many analysts who time and again stated that the true test of Jio would be when it would have a similar user base like its rivals.
Meanwhile, Ookla in its report quipped: “For now it’s safe to say that 135 Mbps is an aspiration rather than a reality for the majority of Jio’s customers as even the top 10% of tests averaged out at 17.77 Mbps in September.”
Jio is also struggling to make available enough SIMs in the market even a month after the roll out of its services.
