Reliance Jio made some huge news when it crossed 100 million subscribers base in just eight months of its launch. But, it seems that telecom player is slowly losing its charm as the pace of subscriber additions has slowed down.
According to the latest data by TRAI, Jio has added 3.87 million subscribers in the month of April, which is much lower than March’s 5.83 million additions. The brand has witnessed a third consecutive month-on-month drop in the subscriber additions.
Jio added 12.21 customers in February and 18.5 million in January. The highest subscriber addition was in December with 20.3 million. The In the first month of its launch, i.e. September 2016, Jio added 16 million subscribers, while in October and November, the company added 19.6 and 16.3 million.
However, the company has witnessed an increase in the market share from 9.29 percent in March to 9.58 percent in April. Airtel, Vodafone and Idea, on the other hand, has added 2.8 million, 0.75 million and 0.68 million users in the month of April. Further, all three operators maintained their market shares at 23.54 percent, 17.86 percent and 16.69 percent respectively.
Earlier, Reliance Jio topped the 4G network speed chart for the third consecutive month with a high speed of 19.12 Mbps. Idea Cellular network stood second with at 13.70 Mbps speed and Vodafone network at 13.38 Mbps bagged the third spot. On the other hand, Bharti Airtel logged average download speed of 10.15 Mbps in April, putting it at number four on the list.
