Apart from the launch of JioPhone, a 4G ready feature phone for almost free, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) became the first company globally to beam their Annual General Meeting (AGM) on VR.
The RIL AGM was broadcast live in 360 degree VR and those owning a VR headsets, and compatible smartphone could have watched it in Virtual Reality. The company had set up VR zones across it offices so that its employees could watch the VR feed.
It is expected that around 35,000 people from general public and 6,000 RIL employees our of 2,50,000 workforce saw the AGM on the VR headset. In just six months since launch in September last year, Reliance Jio has managed to garner 100 million subscribers. It had already disrupted the mobile Dat traffic in the country and know it is expected to bring some drastic changes in features phone segment.
