Redd Mobility to bring Android phones and tablets

Redd Mobility, a new player in the handset market, will release an Android smartphone based on version 2.3, and a 7 inch tablet that uses Android 2.2.

India’s crowded handset market recently got a new entrant called Redd Mobility, which is planning to launch a dual 2.3 based smartphone and a 7 inch Android 2.2 tablet PC in the second week of June.

The company claims to have very aggressive plans for the Indian market. It has recently launched products in Rajasthan and is planning to launch products in Delhi and Gujarat in the last week of May.

“We will launch circle by circle in a very focused manner. We don’t want to do a pan India launch till we are fully prepared,” Arvind Balagopalan, director of marketing at Redd Communications told ‘The Mobile Indian’.

The company claimed that each of its products would be high on quality and functionality. They have also set up a design house to get the products made according to the needs of Indian consumers.

“We do not want to be just another brand. We have set up our own design house in India as well as in China so that we can properly customise our products. Unlike other Indian brands who go for a partnership for service support, we are setting up our own service centers, which will help us serve our customers better,” added Balagopalan.

Asked about the product mix, he added, “We will focus on having a wide product range starting from the very basic to smartphones. We will want to serve the replacement market with better product offering at competitive prices.”

However, the company’s officials refused to share further details about the Android products, promising that they will get back to us with more details soon.
