Realme has started rolling out an update to the Realme 3 adding new features to the device as well as updating it to the latest security levels. Prior to this, the company released the Android Pie update with ColorOS 6 on the Realme 2 Pro a couple of weeks ago.
The update to the Realme 3 shifts the build number of the firmware to version RMX1821EX_11.A.16 and adds the latest May 5, 2019 Android Security Patch Level. The update brings with it a new lock screen magazine and a realme Theme Store its updated themes and wallpapers. Lock screen magazine can be enabled by heading over to Settings > Home Screen and lock-screen magazine and tap on lock-screen magazine.
Additionally, the update also adds the realme App Market, realme Game Center and a realme Community app across select regions. Realme says it has optimised the display quality of the device.
The update will be available over-the-air and can be directly installed on the phone when being prompted with a notification. To manually download the update, head over to Settings > System > Software updates and check for the update manually. Realme is also offering the latest stable ROM for download which can be installed manually by flashing the ZIP file. The provided ROM weighs in at 2.01GB.
To recall, the Realme 3 features a 6.2-inch HD+ display with a screen resolution of 1520 x 720 pixels, 19:9 aspect ratio, 450nits brightness and Corning Gorilla Glass protection. It is backed by a 4230mAh battery and it runs on Android 9.0 Pie, which is based on ColorOS 6.0.
It’s powered by a MediaTek Helio P70 2.1GHz octa-core Processor along with Mali G72 GPU, up to 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. The device is equipped with a dual-camera setup with a combination of 13-megapixel primary sensor with an f/1.8 Aperture and a 2-megapixel secondary sensor, coupled with an LED flash. For the front, there is a 13-megapixel sensor with f/2.0 aperture, 1.12-micron pixels.
