As per The Mobile Indian survey, its maiden smartphone, the Realme 1, was the most-searched smartphone in the year 2018. The data was compiled using the 2 million visitors from the website. The major highlight of the smartphone was its premium design language along powerful hardware and big battery backup. The company introduced its first smartphone with MediaTek Helio P60 Processor along with some interesting camera arsenal at a starting price point of Rs 8,990.
The Highs
The major high point for Realme was its aggressive pricing of the smartphones. All the products from the brand were priced quite aggressively as compared to the competition, which created some abuzz in the smartphone industry. The major plus point for the company was that it didn’t target different price bands, but was focused on one particular segment, the Budget segment, which is also the heart of the Indian smartphone industry.
The Lows
Coming to the lows, there was no clarity on its relationship with Oppo. On one hand, the company announced that it now an independent company, still all the phones were manufactured by Oppo Mobiles. Another major issue, which multiple users reported was the buggy user interface.
