Qualcomm, the US-based chipmaker has announced that it will be launching a new Snapdragon chip on March 17 in Beijing, China. It is being speculated that the company is gearing up to announce a new addition to the Snapdragon 7 series lineup, and it could be the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 1.
Reports suggest that Qualcomm is working on two Snapdragon 7 series chips, including the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 1 and the 7 Gen 2. The SoC with part number SM7550 is expected to be the latter with its purported launch taking place in the second half of this year. The Qualcomm Snapdragon chip that is supposed to launch on March 17 is said to have the SM7475 part number and will be called the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 1 as per leaks.
According to Digital Chat Station, a known tipster on Weibo, the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 1 will arrive as an underclocked Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 of sorts. Rumours abound suggest that Redmi, Realme, Honor, Oppo, and Vivo will be some of the brands who will launch Snapdragon 7+ Gen 1-powered phones in the near future.

It is also being speculated that the Redmi Note 12T Turbo and Realme GT Neo 5 SE could be the first phones to employ this chipset. The Note 12T Turbo is rumoured to launch as the Poco F5 in the global market.
Coming back to the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 1, it should be a 4nm Chipset manufactured by TSMC. It is said to have a Cortex-X2 prime core clocked at 2.95GHz, 3 x Cortex-A510 cores clocking at 2.5GHz, and 4 x Cortex-A710 cores working at 1.8GHz. For graphics, Adreno 725 GPU should handle the needs, running at speeds of up to 580Hz. The chip was also spotted scoring 1,029,731 points on AnTuTu benchmarks last month. On Geekbench, the chipset scored 1215 and 4064 points in the single-core and multi-core tests, respectively.
