Google has finally updated its end-of-life support page and has announced the time frame of getting last Android and security patch updates for Pixel and Pixel XL.
Unlike other manufacturers, Google always maintains a page where one can find the end-of-life for Google-made devices. As per the latest information available on the page, the Pixel and Pixel XL will be getting the Android updates up to October 2018. The company also states that both the devices will be getting the security updates until October 2019. The information vital in the sense that it gives more clarity to users who want to opt for a new Pixel devices.
Meanwhile, Google is expected to launch three Pixel devices this year codenamed, Muskie, Walleye and Taimen. While Muskie and Walleye appear to be the successors to Google Pixel and Google Pixel XL, we are still not sure about Taimen. Some reports suggest that it might be Google’s new Pixel tablet based on the company’s habit to design its devices based on the aquatic names and sizes.
All the three Pixel devices are expected to sport Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 835 chipset, as revealed by AOSP (Android Open Source Project). Further, after LG, Samsung and probably Apple, Google might bag in some of the OLEDs for Pixel 2. As per a report, the company is planning to invest about $900 million for procuring flexible OLED displays from LG Display.
