Pixel being sold a lot more than Nexus 6P

Google Pixel in India starts at Rs 57,000 for 32GB variant and Rs 66,000 for 128GB variant.

Seems like Google’s aggressive advertising for Pixel smartphones is working as both the Pixel and Pixel XL has shown better adoption rates than last year’s Nexus 6P. The report comes from an analytical firm named Appboy.

According to the report, while Pixel took about 0.016% of market share, Pixel XL reached about 0.020% of market share a week after its launch. As reported by 9To5 Google, Appboy analyzed 100+ million daily devices from October 20-27.

Also, though the maximum adoption rate was on the day following the launch, on October 25 also, Pixel devices witnessed a good amount of adoption rate which can be credited to India’s shipping being started on that day itself.

Jumping on to the figures, Pixel showed a growth of about 274% one week later while Pixel XL showed a growth of 158%. Interestingly, these figures came up even after supply shortages faced by Google. Comparing it to Galaxy S flagship, S7 showeda growth of about 104% which is much less than Galaxy S6’s week growth in adoption rate of 171%. One should note here the difference between the sheer amount of devices as Samsung launches its device worldwide with absolutely no supply shortage issues. Nevertheless, these results are surely a good indicator for the first Google made device.

Briefing out the specifications, Pixel comes with Pixel a 5-inch 1080p display and Pixel XL sports a 5.5 inch Quad display. Both the devices have high-definition panels. On the inside, there is a Quad-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 with 2 cores clocked at 2.15GHz and 2 cores clocked at 1.6GHz. It comes in two storage options i.e. 32GB and 128GB with 4GB LPDDR4 RAM. Regarding the battery, it is 2770 mAh on Pixel and 3450 mAh on Pixel XL. Both the devices also house a Pixel imprint fingerprint sensor at the back which is surrounded by that famous glass plate. And yes, it has a 3.5mm jack in addition to USB with Quick Charge support.

For photography, both the devices sport a 12.3 MP rear facing the camera with 1.55-micron pixels size and f/2.0 aperture. Google boasted quite a few features about the new devices and one of them was the camera. The camera on the new Pixel devices received a rating of 89 from DXO Mark which is highest on any smartphone. For the comparison, iPhone 7 got the rating of 86. And following up some of the best tech reviewers, the camera on Pixel smartphones look promising.
