Black Shark entered the Indian Market a few days back and they are trying to woo customers who love gaming on their smartphone. At the sidelines of the launch event, we caught up with David Li, Global Sales and Marketing, Black Shark to know more about the company.
Talking about Black Shark’s association with Xiaomi David said, ” Xiaomi is just an investor in our company. We work independently.” He further said that the company isn’t targeting the mass market their target consumers are mobile gamers.
Replying to a query about gaming capabilities of Black Shark smartphones as compared to other smartphones he said,” On other smartphones, one can play games but they will not get the kind of experience they will enjoy on our smartphones.”

Black Shark also plans to set up demo zones in India so that consumers can have a first-hand experience of the devices. As far as, offline availability of the smartphone in concerned David said, ” Right now we are concentrating on online space only and have not thought about offline strategy.”
Black Shark 2 which is priced at Rs 39,999 for the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage variant while the premium variant is priced at Rs 49,999, which comes with a 12GB RAM and 256GB storage was launched in India a few days back. The smartphone will be available for purchase exclusively on Flipkart on June 4.
The major highlight of the smartphone is the gaming-centric design language coupled with top-notch hardware. Thephone features Liquid Cooling 3.0, which includes a liquid-cooled plate along with liquid-cooled tube that covers all the heat-generating components of the CPU. Liquid Cooling 3.0 is claimed to be 20 times more efficient in heat dissipation. This brings down the core temperature by up to 14-degree C. There is an X-style Antenna that provides better reception along with hidden press sensitive buttons for the display. The smartphone also comes with a Magic Press pressure-sensing technology to enable customisation of pressure sensitivity on the display.
Black Shark 2 features a 6.39-inch Full HD+ display with a screen resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels along with 19.5:9 aspect ratio, 403ppi of pixel density, 108.9% DCI+P3 colour gamut and 430 nits brightness. The company is calling it a TrueView Display which restores true colour to the screen. Under the hood, the gaming phone is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor along with Adreno 640 GPU which is backed by up to 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage. It has an in-display fingerprint sensor.
The Black Shark 2 has a 4000mAh battery with 27W Fast charging support that offers 30 minutes of gaming with just 5 minutes of charging and it runs on Android 9.0 Pie. On the camera front, it is equipped with a dual-camera setup, which comes with a combination of 48-megapixel primary lens with f/1.75 aperture, 0.8-micron pixel size along with with a 12-megapixel telephoto lens with f/2.2 aperture, 1.0-micron pixel size, 2x lossless zoom and LED flash.There’s a 20-megapixel selfie camera on the Black Shark 2 with f/2.0 aperture.
Connectivity options for the phone include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, and USB Type-C port. The phone measures 163.61 x 75.01 x 8.77mm.
