Days after launching the R15 Pro smartphone in India for Rs 25,990, Oppo is now gearing up to launch a 10X lossless zoom camera in a smartphone. The technology will debut on January 16 and is expected to power the Oppo F19 and F19 Pro.
The news comes from what looks like an invite that was leaked on My Drivers revealing the date of launch as January 16. The upcoming Oppo technology will be unveiled at an event in Beijing, China and will showcase the 10x hybrid Optical Zoom solution, two years after the Chinese company introduced a 5X optical lossless zoom back in MWC 2017.
Oppo’s upcoming 10X hybrid zoom camera is expected debut on the Oppo F19 and F19 Pro. The feature will then be rolled on to the successor of the Oppo R17 which will likely be labelled as the Oppo R19.
Prior to this, the 5X zoom setup involved using a 90-degree angular prism and a 5P lens which were paired with optical image stabilisation for smoother pictures on full zoom. In order not to increase the thickness of the smartphone, OPPO uses a periscope module as a telephoto lens.
Since an Oppo smartphone with a 5Z lossless zoom was never announced, we’d like you to take this news with a pinch of salt. It’s also likely that an Oppo phone with 10X zoom will be a prototype in its early stages.
