Opera ties up with 7 Indian device brands

The popular data saving browser will come preinstalled in devices coming from popular Indian brands.

Opera, the popular mobile browser, has announced its partnership with seven mobile phone brands in India. The brands that have been partnered with include Micromax, Videocon, Spice, MoMagic Technologies, Wynncom, Lemon Mobiles and iBall. Following the partnership, handsets of all these companies will come with Opera Mini preinstalled. Opera has already been offered to users by some of these manufacturers in the past such as Micromax Canvas 4 and Canvas Doodle 2, Spice Coolpad, Lava Iris 506Q, Celkon Campus A20, and Karbonn A9 Star to name a few.

Earlier this year, Opera had also partnered with seven other Indian brands including Celkon, Karbonn, Lava, Intex, Fly, Zen and HCL. In total, Opera has now partnership with 17 handset manufacturers in India.

Sunil Kamath, vice president for South Asia, Opera Software, on the occasion said, “India is home to the largest number of Opera Mini users in the world. Partnering with local OEMs in India and neighboring countries is part of our growth strategy to take Opera Mini’s user numbers in the region from strength to strength.”

The Opera Mini helps users to save on data cost with its image compression technology while at the same time the browser allows for customisation as well so that users can tune the browser the way they want.
