We know that the OnePlus TV is scheduled to launch in September and it will be available in India first. While it was confirmed that the TV will come running Android TV operating system, OnePlus has now clarified that the first generation OnePlus TV will get three years of Android TV updates.

The news comes directly from OnePlus CEO Pete Lau who disclosed through a OnePlus forum post why OnePlus TV will be using Google’s Android TV interface and with that also confirmed that it will offer its users “Android TV updates for at least 3 years”.
Lau says OnePlus has a strategic partnership with Google which would enable it to “provide a Fast & Smooth experience”. The company says that Android TV is the “most powerful TV operating system” mainly because it offers a Google Play Store and Google Assistant.
OnePlus also disclosed that OnePlus TV will be the first step to establish a OnePlus IoT ecosystem and for choosing an operating system that interacts and seamlessly connects with an Android phone, “Android TV is the natural choice”.
OnePlus TV is expected to come running a MediaTek MT5670 processor with 3GB of RAM. While there are four models under development, OnePlus has already confirmed a 55-inch QLED OnePlus TV for starters. It’s expected that the 55-inch model will accompany another 65-inch TV for release across all OnePlus markets. The company is expected to 75-inch model for users in China and the US while a 43-inch model will launch specifically for Indian users.
