The developers from the Chinese handset manufacturer, OnePlus are back to work after a brief vacation season releasing OxygenOS 4.0.3 update for the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T. The new update brings in a bunch of optimisations and bug fixes including an improved the Smart Wi-Fi Switcher which basically switches your internet to Mobile Data if your Wi-Fi signal is poor. Further, support for Wi-Fi IPv6 has also been added in the latest update.
Other than this, OnePlus also claims that the new update increases stability to the Camera app. Also, the exposure levels while clicking night time photos have also been optimised. For the Audio, OxygenOS 4.0.3 also updates Audio Parameters and improves the quality of audio recordings. The changelog also mentions that the Amazon Prime App will come pre-installed for India Users.
As always, this OTA (Over The Air) is will be rolled out on an incremental basis and can take sometime to reach you. In other words, the update will be first rolled out to a small number of users and the update batch will be increased with every phase.
Tony L. also posted some solutions for know Wi-Fi issue which would disconnect the Wi-Fi on its own quite often. To fix the issue, Tony suggests a solution which asks you to go to Settings > Wi-Fi > Configure Wi-Fi (the settings icon at the top right corner) >check your IP address format (IPv4 = Single line, IPv6 = Multiple lines). If your IP address happens to be written in IPv6 format then ‘Switch off’ the IPv6 Support toggle and track if the issue is resolved.
If the Wi-Fi disconnection issue still persists, then switch of the Smart Wi-Fi Switcher in Settings > Wi-Fi > Configure Wi-Fi. If that still doesn’t solve the issue for you, you can send a PM (Personal Message) to Tony L. on OnePlus forums.
