OnePlus, after a success in the smartphone industry, is all set to enter the television market. The company has announced that is taking the first steps in developing a Smart TV and it might launch the home appliance in early 2019.
The new Smart TV from the company will be known as OnePlus TV and the company has revealed that it wants to bring “the home environment to the next level of intelligent connectivity”. The latest Smart TV will be built with flagship design, image quality and audio experience.
OnePlus Founder and CEO, Pete Lau, will lead the new division alongside the existing smartphone division. “I dream about a time when technology is truly seamless, an effortless part of your life without being the focus. As other consumer electronics have evolved and improved our lives, televisions have remained conventional and cumbersome,” said Pete Lau, OnePlus Founder and CEO.
The company has also revealed that it will lay emphasis on the community for developing the OnePlus TV. The brand will ask over 5 million OnePlus community members from 196 countries about feedback and suggestions for what should be included in its new Smart TV.
“Something that seems as simple as displaying the photos from your mobile phone to a television is still difficult to achieve. With the development of AI technology, our imagination is endless – and we are looking forward to the future,” said Lau.
