  • OnePlus’ foldable lineup could be based on Oppo’s Find N series

OnePlus has announced that it will launch its first foldable smartphone in the second half of 2023. The announcement was made during its “From Fast & Smooth to Beyond” panel discussion at Mobile World Congress 2023 event. The company had already given a teaser of the upcoming foldable smartphone at its Cloud 11 event held last month.

The upcoming foldable from OnePlus will be competing with the already trusted players in the space, such as Samsung, Oppo and the latest entrant which is Tecno. “Our first foldable phone will have the signature OnePlus fast and smooth experience. It must be a flagship phone that doesn’t settle because of its folding form, in terms of industrial design, mechanical technology, and other aspects. We want to launch a device that aims to be at the pinnacle experience of today’s foldable market”, said Kinder Liu, President, and COO of OnePlus at the event.

The launch of OnePlus’ first foldable should take place sometime on Q3 of 2023. The company will share further details regarding the device in the coming months, OnePlus said. A report from last year suggested that the OnePlus Foldable will be a copy of OPPO’s Find N smartphone.

The main inner foldable display is a 7.1-inch LTPO AMOLED panel with 1792 x 1920 pixels resolution, 1-120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ support and 1550 nits of peak brightness. The inner screen has 370 ppi while the outer screen has 429 ppi.
