After two open beta releases OnePlus is finally rolling out the stable version of the latest Android 8.0 Oreo. The new version has been rolling out to a small percentage of OnePlus 5 users and it will be rolled to a wider audience in few days’ time.
The company confirmed that the OxygenOS 5.0, which is based on Android Oreo, is reaching OnePlus 5 users. Users can check for the latest update by going to Settings > System updates. The latest update brings a host of new updates including Parallel Apps feature that allow users to create multiple accounts for apps such as Facebook and WhatsApp.
Then there is a new design for quick settings and lift up display. The company has also added new ‘adaptive model’ screen calibration and the update also brings the latest December security patch as well. OnePlus 5 users will also get history feature in Calculator and alarm calendar feature in Clock.
The update also brings optimisations for Shelf and one can upload a photo through Shot on OnePlus. The camera comes with a new UI design along with beauty effect for Portrait mode and Places tab for viewing photos on a map. Apart from this, users will get all the major Android Oreo features including picture-in-picture mode, auto-fill feature, notification dots, smart text selections and more.

Meanwhile, OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei, in a Tweet, has confirmed that OnePlus 5 will soon receive the Face Unlock feature, which is currently available on the OnePlus 5T. The new face unlock feature is pretty fast and the company claims that it can unlock the smartphone in 0.3 seconds.
