OnePlus is all set to launch its next-generation flagship device, the OnePlus 5 in India on June 22. The launch event will take place in Mumbai on the said date at 14:00 IST. The company is also giving 5 OnePlus 5 devices for those who set up SMS alerts to watch the OnePlus 5 launch Live anytime until June 20th. Earlier, OnePlus confirmed that the smartphone will be launched on June 20th through an online event at 12 PM EDT (:30 PM IST).
The brand has also tweeted an image with a tagline “Focus on what matters”, which could mean that the upcoming smartphone will bank heavily on the camera department. The device is already reported to sport a dual-camera setup and the brand has also partnered with DxO, the brand behind the popular photography Benchmarking site, DxOMark.
Further, the company will also host Pop-up events in New York, London, Paris, Berlin, Helsinki, Oulu, Tampere, Turku, Amsterdam and Copenhagen. The details about the Pop-up events are available on company’s official website.
Meanwhile, Android Police has shared the alleged official render of the OnePlus 5. The render shows a dual-camera setup placed horizontally on the back panel, while at the front there is a secondary camera along with an earpiece. The screen seems to boast a 2.5D glass protection along with minimal side bezels. At the left, you will find OnePlus trademarked mute switch coupled with volume controls, while on the left, there is a power switch.
Recollecting some previous leaks, OnePlus 5 will run on the latest Android 7.1.1 Nougat and will be powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 Processor along with Adreno 540 GPU. The smartphone is reported to boast a Full HD display with a screen resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels, which contradicts previous rumours predicting a Quad HD display for the upcoming flagship device. The screen size will be of 5.5-inch. The device will be backed by a 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage.
It is also reported that it will come with a bigger 3600 mAh battery (Evan Blass leaked a 4000 mAh non-removable battery). Interestingly, similar to what we saw on OnePlus 3 and 3T, OnePlus is likely to go with a front-facing fingerprint scanner at the front. OnePlus is also expected to introduce the new Dash Charge 2.0.
