RRR, an action drama film by the award-winning director S.S. Rajamouli has been loved across the globe since it came out last year. Not only it has won many national awards, the movie is also getting considerable coverage and attention internationally, which shows after the recent announcement of the movie’s song ‘Naatu Naatu’ winning the category of ‘Best Song’ at Oscars 2023. As mentioned, Naatu Naatu from S.S. Rajamouli’s RRR has also won the Oscar in the Best Song category, overcoming the other nominees in the category which included Applause (Tell It Like a Woman), Hold My Hand (Top Gun Maverick), Lift Me Up (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever), and This is a Life (Everything Everywhere All at Once). The song has created history as it became the first song from any Indian film to win in the Best Song category.
RRR has garnered several US awards, made it to the BAFTA 2023 long-list in the Film Not in the English Language category, won the Golden Globes in the Best Original Song category, and also bagged the Best Song at the 28th edition of the Critics Choice Awards, among others.
If all this wasn’t enough, the song was also performed live during the Oscar ceremony by singers Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava, and danced by Lauren Gottlieb.
