OLA cabs go smarter with smartphone based tracking

Ola cabs, which provides taxi cab and cars on rent in Mumbai and Bangalore, has announced the launch of its Android and iOS applications that allow commuters to search, hire and even track their cabs without having the need to call up the booking office.

The service has been launched in Bangalore and with the company running its services in three major metros in the country, the same is expected to be rolled out in other cities soon.

The App provides users instantaneous confirmation of booking along with necessary details like the name of the cab driver and vehicle number, distance from the user’s location as well as expected time taken to reach the location.

The app also tracks and shows the real time movement of the cab from its location to the location of the customer, on the local map of the city thereby allowing users to finish other tasks rather than keep waiting for the cab to arrive.

Daily commuters can also maintain a credit balance in their application and utilise that for payment against their travel with the Ola cab service allowing for easy and smarter mode of payment.

The application is expected to be launched on platforms like Windows Phone and BlackBerry soon. OLA cabs have also started services in Delhi on a pilot project biases.
