HTC has formally announced the Desire 616 Dual SIM smartphone as the successor of the current Desire 816 Dual SIM handset. The new HTC Desire 616 Dual SIM offers a 5-inch HD display and is powered by an octa-core MediaTek mobile chipset. HTC Desire 616 Dual SIM smartphone runs HTC Sense 5.1 UI on top of Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update. Of course, the HTC BlinkFeed is also present. HTC plans to make it available in other Asian Markets in coming weeks.
HTC has added yet another Dual SIM smartphone in its Desire series. The new Desire 616 Dual SIM smartphone offers a 5-inch display with 1280×720 pixel resolution. This dual SIM handset is powered by octa-core 1.4 GHz MediaTek MT6592 mobile Chipset and Mali 450-GP4 GPU graphics chip. HTC has added 1 GB RAM and 4 GB on-board storage to ensure smooth basic functioning of the device.
At its back, HTC has placed an 8 megapixel camera and an LED flash. This camera can record full HD (1080p) videos. In the front, the Desire 616 has a 2 megapixel camera for video calls. Other features of this phone include WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS with A-GPS support.
Measuring 9.5 mm thick, the Desire 616 can support one 3G HSPA+ network SIM card. HTC has powered the entire device with mere 2000 mAh battery which may not provide decent talktime.
Launched approximately for Rs 14,340 in Singapore, we expect the Desire 616 to be priced in Sub Rs 20,000 bracket for India.
HTC Desire 616 Dual SIM will compete with some existing models like Micromax Canvas Knight A350, Intex Aqua Octa and Xolo Q3000.
