Obi Worldphone, a mobile manufacturer co-founded by ex-Apple CEO John Sculley, has revealed its latest 4G affordable smartphone, the MV1, at the ongoing Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2016 event, in Barcelona, Spain.
As per Obi, the smartphone has been designed by a San Francisco-based design firm ‘Ammunition’. The Obi Worldphone MV1 comes in two RAM variants 1GB and 2GB. The 1GB RAM variant is priced at $139 (approximately Rs 9,537), while the 2GB variant will cost $149 (approximately Rs 10,223). The smartphone will be available from this month in Asia and Africa and, will be releasing in Latin America and Europe next month. The Obi Worldphone MV1 will be made available through online and traditional retail channels.
The Obi Worldphone MV1 features a 5-inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) in-cell display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection and Anti-fingerprint oleophobic coating. It is powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 212 processor, which is paired with 1GB/2GB RAM and Adreno 304 GPU. The smartphone runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop with Cyanogen OS 12.1.1 on top of it and is powered by a 2500 mAh Li-Po battery.
The MV1 offers 16GB internal storage of internal storage, which can be further expandable up-to 64GB via micro SD card. The smartphone sports an 8-megapixel rear camera with OmniVision OV8865 sensor, f/2.2 aperture, 1080p video recording and, an LED flash. There is a 2-meagpixel shooter in its front for selfies and video calling. On the connectivity front, the smartphone offers Dual SIM (Micro and Nano), 4G, WiFi (802.11 b/g/n) dual-band, WiFi direct, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS -AGPS/ GLONASS, and a Micro USB 2.0. The smartphone also offers DTS Sound with dual microphone for noise-cancellation. The handset measures 145.6 x 72.6 x 8.95 mm and weighs 149 grams. The Sensors include Accelerometer, Proximity and Ambient Light Sensor.
