Obi SF1, SJ1.5 Android smartphones unveiled

SF1, a 4G/ LTE variant is priced at $199 (approx Rs 13,144), and the SJ1.5, a 3G variant is priced at $129 (approx Rs 8,517) and will be available to the consumers in October.

Obi Mobile (now Obi Worldphone), a mobile manufacturer co-founded by ex-Apple CEO John Sculley, has unveiled two budget smartphones, SF1 and SJ1.5. The Obi SF! (where SF stands for San Francisco) is a smartphone which is priced at $199 (approx Rs 13,144), while the SJ1.5 (SJ for San Jose) is a device that comes with a price tag of $129 (approx Rs 8,517). These two devices will be available in the market from October this year.

Obi Mobile

The Obi Worldphone SF1 features a 5-inch 1080p display with 4 and oleophobic coating. It is powered by a 1.5 GHz octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor and 2 RAM. The smartphone runs on the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop operating system.

Obi Worldphone SF1 sports a 13-megapixel auto focus rear camera with Sony IMX214 sensor and flash. In its front there is a 5-megapixel camera which too comes with an LED flash too. On the storage front, the phone offers 16 GB of internal storage which is further expandable to up to 64 GB via a micro SD card slot. It has a 3000 mAh Li-Po battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 1.0 power management technology. On the connectivity front,Obi Worldphone SF1 offers 4G/LTE, dual SIM (Micro and Nano), WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n, dual band, WiFi direct. 4.0, A2DP, GPS with A-GPS/ and 2.0. The handset measures 46 x 74 x 8 mm and weighs 147 grams.

Another variant of Obi Worldphone SF1, which comes with 3GB and 32 GB internal storage, is priced at $249 (approx Rs 16,447).

On the other hand, the Obi Worldphone SJ1.5 features a 5-inch (1280×720 pixels) display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and Oleophobic coating coating. It is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6580 processor and 1GB RAM. The smartphone runs on the Android Lollipop 5.1 operating system (OS is optimized by Lifespeed UI).

Obi Worldphone SJ1.5 sports an 8-megapixel auto focus rear camera with OmniVision sensor and LED flash. For selfies, it offers a 5-megapixel unit. On the storage front, the phone offers 16 GB of internal storage which is further expandable up to 32 GB via a micro SD card slot. It has a 3000 mAh Li-Po battery. On the connectivity front, Obi Worldphone SJ1.5 offers 3G,dual SIM, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, WiFi Direct, Bluetooth 4.0, A2DP, GPS and micro USB 2.0. The handset measures 146 x 73 x 7.95 mm and weighs 137 grams.
