Nvidia to unveil quad-core smartphones at MWC

Nvidia has already introduced world's first quad-core processor running tablet - Asus Transformer Prime

Mobile processor maker Nvidia is planning to unveil its first quad-core Tegra 3 mobile processor running smartphone at the Mobile World Congress 2012 later this month.

Nvidia has already introduced world’s first quad-core mobile processor running tablet along with Asus – Transformer Prime. The company now set to unveil the quad-core mobile processor based smartphone at the MWC 2012 and will be available for purchase later this year.

We already know that the upcoming Mobile World Congress 2012 will bring the first Quad-core mobile processor running smartphones for masses. Now it would be interesting to see if Samsung, Texas Instruments or Qualcomm will also be part of the Quad-core based smartphone club.

Nvidia has already sent out invites to select media companies for its press conference at the MWC 2012 starting 26 February. Phandroid blog shared the invite online.

The invite’s text states “Nvidia Quad-Core Firsts Continue at MWC”, under an image of guy holding a smartphone while on a joy ride. Obviously the company is hinting towards the first quad-core mobile CPU based smartphone.

HTC is the first quad-core mobile processor based smartphone. All other OS based handset makers would be aiming to introduce quad-core mobile CPU based smartphone or at least announce the plans for the same.

Now along with the quad-core mobile processor based smartphone, we would also like to see improvement in the battery technology that lasts longer, especially with the Android OS based smartphones.
