ZTE has packed in a surprise for Nubia fans as it announces the Nubia X as its next flagship smartphone. The Nubia X features an all-screen display, then another screen at the back, two cameras at the back and two fingerprint scanner on both sides to make it easy for both left-handed and right-handed folks. The device comes with top-of-the-line specs and will be available for a starting price of 3299 yuan (approx. Rs 35,000).
The Nubia X packs two displays – a 6.26-inch FHD+ 19:9 aspect ratio display on the front with barely any bezels and a secondary 5.1-inch HD+ AMOLED screen at the back. Even with two displays, the device carries a thin form factor with a thickness of 8.4mm and weighs in at 181 grams. There are fingerprint scanners that Nubia claims will unlock the smartphone in under 0.1 seconds and is featured on both sides of the phone to make it easy for both left-handed and right-handed people to use. The two displays are plastered onto a 7000-series aviation grade aluminium frame with a curved 3D glass for the rear side.
Since there’s a display on the rear side, the rear dual camera is also what users will be able to use for selfies as well. The Nubia X sports a dual 16MP (f/1.8) + 24MP (f/1.7) camera setup above the secondary display at the back with dual Pixel PDAF, AI scene recognition, HDR, AI portrait mode and slow-motion video recording at 240fps. For selfies alone, the camera will be able to use the larger soft-light LED during low light scenarios.
On the specs front, the device is powered by a Snapdragon 845 chip with up to 8GB RAM and up to 256 GB storage. Nubia is implementing a multi-layer graphene cooling system, 18W Fast charging and a 3,800mAh battery on the Nubia X. There’s an ultra-low power setting that will last to up to 3 hours on 5 percent of battery.
Nubia X runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with a personalised Nubia UI 6.0 X on top. There is support for gesture-based navigation, AI dual-screen switching and a dedicated app to force users to develop healthy eye habits. Nubia X will allow users to use the secondary screen to be used for added functions when gaming. In terms of connectivity, the device will feature 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS and a 3.5mm audio jack.
The Nubia X from ZTE will be available in Black Gold, Blue Gold, Deep Gray and Sea Blue colours for a starting price of 3299 yuan (approx. Rs 35,000) for the base 6 GB RAM and 64 GB storage version. It goes up to 4,299 yuan (approx. Rs 45,600) for the 8GB/256GB version in Blue Gold colour.
