Nuance, a language technology company, has joined the virtual assistant competition with its new Dragon Mobile Assistant App for Android.
Nuance Dragon Mobile Assistant is currently in beta and is available for free only in the USA region, but the company plans to expand its availability and add new features before the end of 2012.
The new Dragon Mobile Assistant will support the user in trivial tasks such as composing and sending an SMS, making calls, scheduling appointments, checking the weather, sending a Twitter update, getting directions on a map and more.
Dragon Mobile Assistant promises a completely handsfree personal assistant experience with built in features for natural language processing and artificial intelligence to perform tasks based on voice commands. It also features a new Driver Mode that will let you hear incoming messages. This service is currently in beta and has great potential to grow big, considering the company’s strength with voice-based services.
After Apple introduced natural language speech supporting Siri personal assistant, Google too pulled up its socks and introduced Google Now. We also have Samsung’s S-Voice and LG is working on Quick Voice on its phone in Korea. Now Nuance has jumped into the rink with the new Dragon Mobile Assistant.
Dragon Mobile Assistant is available at the Google Play Sstore for Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean devices only.
