Kik, a cross platform Messaging service provider, has released a new application programming interface which will help users sharing their apps with others on the same platform. Those apps which will be compatible with the content sharing feature of the messenger will enable the users to send images, videos, audio, and other content specific to apps to other users on the Kik platform.
When the content is shared, the messenger will also give a download link to the users so they can download that App if they so desire. If the users already have the app, they will be able to see the content right away, otherwise they will have to download that app.
The idea behind this feature seems to increase distribution of apps already in use. Currently, it is meant for the developers but the ramifications for the end users could be significant.
