Earlier this year, Ringing Bells started a trend for unknown companies to grab eyeballs by announcing ultra cheap smartphones. However, after all the free publicity, till date, less than 5000 people have actually managed to lay their hands on the phone. The latest member of that notorious club is ChampOne. The company has announced a phone called ChampOne C1 for just Rs 501, though it says that the actual cost of the device is Rs 7,999!
The ChampOne C1 offers 4G connectivity, 1.3 GHz Mediatek MT6753 quad core processor, Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system, 5 inch HD IPS display, 2 GB RAM and 16 GB of internal memory. Besides, the smartphone offers dual SIM slot, 5 megapixel front camera, 8 megapixel rear camera, 2500 mAh Li-Po battery, Micro USB port, a fingerprint sensor and a 3.5 mm jack. It comes in white, silver and gold colours.
Its first flash sale will be held on September 2 at 11 AM.
To participate in the flash sale, you have to first register on the company’s website – https://www.champ1india.com/.
However, the registration button, at the time of writing, was not working due to some technical issues and an advisory was at the homepage which reads, “We are facing technical issue with our payment gateway partner [Ccavenue (Avenues India Pvt. Ltd.)]. You would not be able to register for the application for next 24 hours. We sincerely regret for your inconvenience and would try to get it fixed as soon as possible. Thank you for your support.†If that sounds ominously like the Ringing Bells experience, then we agree.
A word of caution
In our opinion, the deal seems too good to be true. To start with, we never heard of ChampOne before. And if you have made up your mind, then go for ‘cash on delivery’ while buying the phone.
And of course, tell us your experience if you have already registered for the ChampOne C1.
