Nothing, a UK-based startup lead by ex-co-founder of OnePlus is revealing its plans for its launches this year and one of them is the Nothing Ear (2). The Ear (2) TWS earbuds have now been confirmed to launch on March 22 at 15:00 GMT (8:30 PM IST). Apart from that, the brand is also set to debut the successor to its Phone (1) later this year whose Processor under the hood has also been revealed mistakenly.
Nothing Ear (2) launch
Nothing Ear (2) is all set to arrive on March 22, with the India launch taking place at the same time presumably, as Flipkart has also started teasing the earbuds. The teaser shared by the brand shows a small part of the case of the Nothing Ear (2) being pushed by a beetle. The launch event will be live streamed on Nothing’s own website.
Apart from that, there haven’t been any significant leaks regarding the ear (2) except for some minor ones which say that it would bring minor changes in the microphone placements, dual connectivity, personalized noise cancelation and an Advanced EQ setting. For pricing and official specifications, we will have to for an announcement from the brand.
Nothing Phone (2) processor
In separate news related to Nothing, the brand recently confirmed that it will be launching the Nothing Phone (2) later this year. It also confirmed that the device will draw power from a Snapdragon 8 series chip with no mentions of the exact model of the processor.
Interestingly, Qualcomm’s SVP and GM of Mobile, Compute, and XR business unit, Alex Katouzian, took to LinkedIn to congratulate Carl Pei and the Nothing team on the launch of Phone 2 and accidentally revealed the processor employed in the device.
As per the post, the device will have a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip, which was unveiled last year and has been found on flagships from Samsung, OnePlus and iQOO. We speculated it to be the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 but it seems like Nothing is going for a generation old chip which should apparently help it keep the cost of the phone low. This is because the most latest chips from manufacturers, such as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, cost higher to procure.
The post was quickly edited to remove the mention of the chip but folks over at 91Mobiles managed to grab a screenshot of it before it was changed. The presence of this chip inside the Phone (2) also backs Carl Pei’s idea of calling the device ‘more premium’ than Nothing Phone (1) which had a mid-range SoC.
