Not even a single unit of Galaxy Note 7 was sold in India, Samsung

In a reply to Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Samsung today denied of any incident arising out of Note 7 sold in India.

About a couple of months back on September 23rd, 2016, there was a report of Galaxy Note 7 emitting smoke while kept in the baggage compartment of a flight from Singapore to Chennai.

Today after thorough investigation, Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Jayant Sinha in a reply to Lok Sabha said – “Matter was investigated by DGCA and during the investigation, it was observed that the damage to the battery of a Samsung Galaxy Note 7 had to the said occurrence,”

Also, Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DCGA) issued a public notice to ban Galaxy Note 7 on board both in check-in baggage or luggage on any flight from or withing India.

Sinha further added that While issuing the instructions, advisories/ guidelines issued by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) were taken into consideration.

“Electronic devices, intentionally transmitting radio signals like mobile/cellular phones, amateur radio transceivers etc., if carried on board, shall be kept in non- transmitting mode (commonly referred to as flight/airplane mode),” Sinha said quoting the Civil Aviation Requirement.

In a reply to this statement, Samsung today claimed that not even a single unit was sold in India.

A Samsung India spokesperson said – “We can confirm that there has been no incident with regard to Galaxy Note 7 in India. In fact, not a single unit of Galaxy Note 7 was sold in India”.
