Microsoft Devices has announced the new Nokia X2 for India. The Nokia X2 will be made available in select markets at best buy price of Rs 8699.
Nokia X2, the successor of Nokia X, comes packed with the Nokia X Software platform. The design and glossy exteriors of the X2 remain consistent to the Nokia X design; the capacitive home button in the front is an interesting change. Nokia X2 bears the crystal glass exterior design like the Nokia Asha 500 series and will be offered in glossy green, orange and black initially.
Nokia X2 features a 4.3-inch ClearBlack LCD display with 480×800 pixel resolution and is powered by the dual-core 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 mobile chipset. The display supports Nokia Glance screen to quickly view notifications and the double tap to wake up gesture. The screen has been made using scratch resistant glass. By default, the Nokia X2 runs the Nokia X Software Platform 2.0 which is based on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean level AOSP code.
Nokia has taken the feedback on the RAM pretty seriously (at least that is what we wish to believe) and that is why the X2 packs 1 GB RAM. For storage, Nokia offers 4 GB on-board storage and a memory slot that supports up to 32 GB micro SD card.
In the front, Nokia has placed a ‘back’ button and ‘home’ button. The back button has been optimised to enable multi-tasking with long press. Nokia X Software platform 2.0 brings several features and improvements out of which major one is three home screens. Swiping right reveals the Fastlane experience, while swiping left reveals the Apps list – just like how it appears on Windows Phone platform.
Apart from MixRadio, Nokia has also added Bass Boost and Stereo FM radio for entertainment. The phone can support variety of multimedia file formats.
At the back, the Nokia X2 has a 5 megapixel camera with f/2.7 Aperture and an LED Flash. The camera supports Touch Focus and offers several imaging adjustments to capture best possible images. The rear camera is capable of recording 720p (HD) videos. With X2, Nokia has placed a 3 megapixel front facing camera for video calling and self portraits. Other significant features include WiFi support, Bluetooth 4.0, standard audio port and Micro USB 2.0 port.
Only pinching demerit of the Nokia X2 could be its 1800 mAh battery which thankfully is removable. However, we are not sure if Nokia is planning to offer higher capacity battery for the Nokia X2.
