Nokia to launch another MeeGo device this year

At its recent developer forum in Barcelona, Nokia confirmed that it will launch the successor of Nokia N900 this year.

Despite the apparent failure of MeeGo, Nokia plans to launch another device based on the platform this year. MeeGo debuted on Nokia N900 last year.

The new device is still to be named, but some say it will be Nokia N950, N9 or N10.

The announcement, made by Nokia’s chief technology officer Rich Green, was part of Nokia’s developer forum during which the company disclosed its plans for the coming three years. It said it will work on all three platforms — Symbian, Windows Mobile and MeeGo.

The reason for not leaving MeeGo, according to Rich Green, is that Nokia is not ready to waste all the research and development that was put in to come up with the mobile platform.
