Nokia Series 40 OS gets in app purchases

Nokia Series 40 based phones will now fetch more money for the developers.

Users of Nokia S40 operating system based mobile phones like X2, C2 series which represents the feature phone segment of Nokia, can soon be able to purchase upgraded versions of applications and games from within the game or app.

Nokia has announced the Beta launch of its new Software development kit for the Nokia Series 40 mobile operating platform. With the sue of this kit, developers can develop newer applications and newer ways of monetising through applications, while providing better more effective and free applications to the users in the process.

With the help of new in-app purchase system, developers can offer extended levels or new play pieces in games, or sell ebooks and magazines. Best of all, users whether using a credit card or operator billing do not need to leave application mid way to visit Nokia Store to complete their transaction.

The new software development kit (SDK) has been developed keeping the newly launched Asha 303 phone as its baseline parameter and applications will be developed in compatibility to it going forth.

But as the SDK is in development phase only, developers will only be able to develop and test the applications based on this software development kit, but later on as the SDK will be made mainstream they will be allowed to take their developments further.
