Nokia N8 gets camera update beta

Several features heavily in demand by shutter geeks are being fulfilled with the camera update for Nokia N8 running Symbian Anna.

Following the release of Anna update for Symbian^3 phones, Nokia Beta Labs has released a mega update for Nokia N8’s camera. This beta update allows video recording at 30 frames per second, has a viewfinder grid, and continuous auto-focus. The beta version of the camera update is available only for Nokia N8 devices with Symbian Anna running on them.

Back in June, we quoted Damien Dinning, Nokia’s mobile camera guru, saying that the Nokia N8 camera will get better updates after Symbian Anna is rolled out. As promised, Dinning enumerated user interface improvements in the Carl Zeiss lens bearing N8.

Smoother zoom has been enabled while capturing still images as well as video. The user interface of the settings has been tweaked so that all customisable options are available after a single tap. Exposure compensation control has been added to deal with luminance in different environments. Auto flash mode will now remove those embarrassing red eyes in images.

With the camera update for N8, Nokia has finally brought the capability to shoot video at 30 frames per second, as well as continuous auto focus.

Do note that the camera update is in the beta testing stage and can cause some irregularities in the camera’s functions. We recommend you take a back up of all data on your Nokia N8 device running Symbian Anna and then install this update.
