Users of Nokia Symbian have been patiently waiting for the Symbian Anna update, and now that it’s available for download they can heave a sigh of relief. Despite the fact we have been talking about Symbian Anna for quite some time, the name of the update was not announced till the end of April. Earlier it was known as Symbian PR 2.0, and yes it is available in India as well.
How to do it?
Symbian Anna is available for download now and users can get it either from the Ovi Suite on their personal computers or over the air through the SW Update App on their handsets.
Advantages & disadvantages
With more and more phones having touchscreens, users have always yearned for a portrait-style onscreen keyboard on Nokia phones. This they now finally get with Symbian Anna update. Users of E7 or C6-01 will not notice since E7 has its own hardware keyboard and C6-01 has so small a screen, the keyboard will be no use on it.
The split screen text input feature will also be helpful to users so they will be able to see the web page or email they are replying to while they are typing on the on-screen keyboard. Even while filling forms on the web users need not leave the page they are on. The Nokia Browser has also undergone some changes in the user interface thus making web browsing on the phones more intuitive for users, and Nokia claims it is faster as well. For users of Nokia C7, the near field communication (NFC) chips of the phones will be unlocked by Symbian Anna.
The biggest benefit for users of Nokia N8 is the 720 pixels and 30 frames per second video support, which, in combination with the 12 Megapixel camera, forms a killer feature.
Current scenario
This is not the first time that Nokia users will be experiencing Anna because it was shipped pre-loaded on Nokia E6 and X7.
