Nokia has formally introduced the much awaited Lumia 920 successor smartphone – Lumia 930. The new smartphone features 5-inch full HD OLED display and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 mobile chipset. The Lumia 930 will run the Windows Phone 8.1 update and features a 20 megapixel PureView camera with Carl Zeiss optic lens. Nokia Lumia 930 will be introduced in June for Europe, Asia, India, Middle East and Latin America at a price roughly about Rs 36,000.
The new Lumia 930 forms the 2014 Lumia series line-up with the Microsoft’s new Windows Phone 8.1 update. The Lumia 930 features a nice 9.8 mm thick profile with a new design that gives cleaner yet mono-block look the smartphone. There is Aluminum frame running around the device, sports metallic accents and curved poly carbonate back. Nokia will offer the Lumia 930 in bright orange, bright green, black and white colour options.
Nokia Lumia 930 features a 5-inch OLED display with full 1080p HD Resolution and touts the ClearBlack technology for darker blacks. Pushing the Pixel density of 441 pixels per inch, the display has been manufactured using the Corning Gorilla Glass 3 technology to make it slimmer, lighter and provide protection against wear-tear. This large screen device is powered by the quad-core 2.2 Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 mobile Chipset paired with 2 GB RAM and offers 32 GB on-board storage. There is no memory card in this smartphone and it supports Nano SIM type module.
Sporting Monoblock touch form factor, Nokia has placed the operation keys – Back, Menu and Search button just below the display area.
Nokia has implemented a 20 megapixel image sensor integrating the PureView imaging technology and there are Carl Zeiss optics used to help it out. With a 1/2.5-inch sensor, the camera offers f/2.4 Aperture and focus range of 10 cm. Nokia has added Dual-LED flash to help out in dark environments. Nokia promises crisp and sharp images using the PureView imaging technology via 20 MP camera trotting Carl Zeiss optics. For Video, the camera can record full HD video and users four high performance microphones to record high quality audio as well.
The Lumia exclusive apps such as Storyteller, Refocus, Panorama, Cinemagraph, Creative Studio and Nokia Camera App come pre-loaded on this smartphone.
Nokia has also integrated the Dolby Surround Sound technology for rich audio experience while playing the recorded videos and enjoying other music files. Lumia 930 packs Bluetooth 4.0 Low Energy, Wi-Fi (802.11 a/b/g/n/ac) along with Wi-Fi Channel bonding and screen projection, USB 2.0 port and Near Field Communication support.
Nokia Lumia 930 also integrates the high speed 4G LTE network supporting Bands (800 Mhz, 2100 Mhz, 1800 Mhz, 2600 Mhz and 900 Mhz). Hopefully, the Indian users will be able to use the Lumia 930 on 1800 Mhz Band whenever the LTE networks becomes active in select circles across the country. To run the Lumia 930 for above 15 hours, Nokia has packed non-removable 2420 mAh battery and supports the Qi Standard for wireless charging.
