HMD Global has announced the roll-out of Android 9.0 Pie update for its Nokia 8 Sirocco smartphone. The company initially promised to roll out the update for the phone in November last year, but it got delayed. Nokia 8 Sirocco was launched last year with Android 8.0 Oreo operating system.
The company’s chief product officer, Juho Sarvikas took to Twitter to confirm the update is now rolling out. His tweet reads “Here’s to the latest member of the Android 9 Pie family. Welcome, Nokia 8 Sirocco!”.
The update brings all the goodies of Android Pie features from digital wellbeing to improved interface. The v4.120 update is 1379.5MB in size and it also includes Android security patch for December, 2018.
After the update, the Nokia 8 Sirocco will receive features like gesture-based system navigation as well as App Actions and Slices, Digital Wellbeing, Adaptive Battery, and Adaptive Brightness. Users can check for the latest update by going to Settings > System > System Updates.
To recall, Nokia 8 Siroccophone feature a 5.5-inch Quad HD pOLED display with an edge-to-edge screen along with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. It is powered by the Snapdragon 835 Processor paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of non-expandable storage.
For the camera optics, it features a Zeiss certified 12-megapixel and 13-megapixel dual camera setup on the back along with dual-tone LED flash. For the front, there is 5-megapixel camera for selfies in front. It is backed up by 3260 mAh battery and it also supports wireless charging.
