HMD Global had announced its first Nokia Android-powered smartphone, Nokia 6, in China on January 8, 2017 and at that point of time company has not revealed the availability details for Nokia 6 smartphone. But now earlier in the day HMD Global reportedly held a meeting in China, where the company has announced that Nokia 6 will go on sale starting 19th January and will be made available exclusively through Jingdong (JD.com). Further, HMD Global and Jingdong (JD.com) reportedly signed a 5-year agreement, under which JD.com got the exclusive marketing rights of Nokia phones in China.
In the meeting, the HMD global has also hinted about launching a new smartphone during MWC 2017 and as per a report in Gizmochina, the said phone might be powered with latest Snapdragon 835 processor.
To recollect the specifications, Nokia 6, which is priced at 1699 CNY (approximately Rs 16,711), comes with an aluminium unibody design. The company claims that it has taken 55 minutes to machine a single Nokia 6 from a solid block of 6000 series aluminium and received two separate anodising processes. The smartphone has a 5.5-inch full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) 2.5D curved glass display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection and comes equipped with an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 (4 x 1.2 GHz Cortex A53 + 4 x 1.5GHz Cortex A53) processor, along with Adreno 505 GPU. It comes with 4GB of RAM, and 64GB internal storage, which can be further expandable up to 128GB via microSD. It also houses a fingerprint scanner, which is embedded in its home button.
The Nokia 6 runs on Android 7.0 Nougat operating system and gets its juices from a decent 3000mAh non-removable battery. On the camera front, the smartphone flaunts a 16-megapixel with PDAF, 1.0um sensor, f/2.0 aperture, and dual-tone LED flash. On its front, it has an 8-megapixel camera with 1.12um sensor and f/2.0 aperture for selfies and video calling. Besides, the Nokia 6 offers Dual SIM, 4G LTE, WiFi (802.11 b/g/n), Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, OTG support, Dual speakers, Dual smart amplifiers, and Dolby Atmos.
Earlier in the day, Nokia 6 smartphone reportedly spotted in Silver colour variant on the Chinese certification website, TENNA. Further, as per the listing on TENNA, the smartphone boasts the codename TA-1000 which was earlier rumoured to be of the Nokia E1 if a report from NokiaPowerUser is to be believed. Moreover, a new variant having the codename TA-1003 has also been spotted with Bluetooth Certification which might be an indication of possible global launch. Addition to this, another report from Gizmochina reveals that HMD Hong Kong is sending out invites for a media event which might have the Nokia 6 on stage. Further, as per the report, the company is also looking to launch the device in Taiwan and Macau later.
