HMD Global has started rolling out Android 9.0 Pie update to its budget-centric Nokia 5.1 smartphone. The phone was launched in India last year with Android 8.1 Oreo.
Juho Sarvikas, Chief Product Officer at HMD Global, announced this news through his official Twitter handle. The tweet reads, “A timeless classic has been redefined! Nokia 5.1 now runs the latest Android 9, Pie. Nokia smartphones just keep getting better! #GetSmart.”
Nokia 5.1 users can check for the latest update by going to Settings > About Phone > System Update. Post getting the update, users will get to enjoy the taste of Pie on their handsets. One can check for features like adaptive battery, adaptive brightness, App Actions, new gesture navigation system, simplified volume controls, revamped split screen, improved DND mode, notification management, Digital Wellbeing and more.
To recall, the phone was launched in August last year for Rs 14,999. Nokia 5.1 features a 5.5-inch Full HD+ display with 2.5d curved glass and a tall aspect ratio of 18:9. The device is powered by a MediaTek Helio P18 Processor along with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. It bears a 3,000mAh battery.
Nokia 5.1 features a 16-megapixel rear camera with phase detection autofocus, f/2.0 Aperture and LED flash. For the front, there is an 8-megapixel sensor with 84-degree wide angle lens. On the connectivity front, you get 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS/ A-GPS, GLONASS, Dual-SIM and Micro USB port. The phone measures 151.1×70.73×8.27mm.
