Nissan Terra to launch on April 12

The company has announced that the seven-seater SUV will be launched on April 12 in China.

Japanese automaker Zhengzhou Nissan which had unveiled the all-new Nissan Terra last month will be launching the seven-seater SUV on April 12 in China.

The full-size SUV shares its ladder-frame architecture with the N300 Navara pickup as well as the Mercedes X-class. Itis a body-on-frame platform. In International markets, the Terra is known as the Paladin or the Pathfinder.

It is 4882mm long, 1850mm wide and 1835mm tall with a 2850mm long wheelbase. The platform also gives way for a ground clearance of 220mm which would make it a decent off-roader. It has an approach angle of 33 degrees and a departure angle of 26 degrees.

In the Chinese market, the Terra will be available with a 2.4-litre producing 184hp mated to a six-speed transmission. It is a naturally aspirated petrol motor. If you want a 4 Wheel Drive system, then you have to get the optional seven-speed automatic transmission. We expect it to be launched with several safety features.

In the design front, the Terra features headlamps and Daytime Running Lights. It appears like a modified version of the Nissan Terrano which is available in the Indian market.

It has 18-inch alloy wheels. Up front, it features the classic Nissan’s signature V-shaped trim muscular front grille. Nissan has used a generous amount of chrome on the front bumper and around the blackened fog lamps. Chrome is also found on the door handles. The body gets flared fenders and the outside rearview mirrors get turn indicators finished in chrome of course.

The interior comprises of wood trim on the central console. Features include a dual-zone climate control system along with a touchscreen infotainment system. It has cruise control and an engine start-stop button.

It is a five-seat configuration along with 60:40 split folding rear seats. Nissan might also launch the seven-seat version of the SUV.

Officially Nissan has not announced any plans of bringing the Terra to India but with competitors like the Toyota Fortune, the Ford Endeavour, the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and the Isuzu MU-X we believe the Terra has great scope for success. This segment is quite popular in India right now. You can also expect it to be showcased at the 2018 Beijing Motor Show. Prices are expected to start at ₹24 lakhs (ex-showroom).
