Nikon yesterday announced two new lens for the Indian market, namely the PC NIKKOR 19mm f/4E ED and AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm f/2.8E FL ED VR.
While the PC NIKKOR 19mm is the latest ultra-wide-angle Perspective Control lens, AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm is Nikon’s next generation fast zoom lens compatible with Nikon FX-format D-SLR.
PC NIKKOR 19mm f/4E ED
The PC NIKKOR 19mm f/4E ED comes with a shift mechanism through which the optical axis is moved parallel to the image plane and supports smooth perspective control without the need for lock operation. Essentially, this mechanism enable users to control perspective which further helps in correcting the distortion of subjects dependent on camera angle. This lens also comes with a unique ‘PC Rotation’ mechanism that basically allows users to freely set the direction of shift and tilt operation straight from parallel to perpendicular to each other.
The lens is also compatible with Nikon F-format D-SLR which ensures superior Resolution throughout the entire frame providing extremely detailed image renders including the extreme corners. Further, Nikon has adopted the three ED lens elements which reduces chromatic aberration and further two aspherical lens elements which provide effective compensation for a variety of aberrations. The Nano Crystal Coat present significantly reduces ghosting and flare offering clear and sharp images even if light passes the lens at a certain angle. On top of this, it also comes with a highly durable flourine coat that effectively helps repel dust, water, grease and dirt which are likely to accumulate at the outer surface of the lens.
One should note that, when used with cameras other than D5, D4 series, D3 series, D810 series, D500, or Df, some combinations of shift and rotation may not be possible due to the fact that the lens comes into contact with the camera body.
The PC NIKKOR 19mm f/4E ED will be available starting first week of November at Rs 184,950.
AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm f/2.8E FL ED VR
The AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm f/2.8E FL ED VR comes with better resolution the previous versions and manages to maintain the resolution all the way to the edges. This lens also comes with adoption of one flourite, one HRI (High Refractive index) and six Extra-Low Dispersion (ED) lens elements to provide compensation for a variety of aberration like distorting. Further, just like the lens mentioned above, it also comes with Nano Crystal Coat to minimize ghosting and flare. For shallow depth of field and bokeh effect, there is f/2.8 maximum Aperture and 70-200mm zoom range.
Moreover, the AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm f/2.8E FL ED VR also comes with Vibration Reduction function which offers stable viewfinder image that makes it easy to track erratically moving objects. The VR functionality is essentially optimized for sports photography with built-in Sport mode offering high-speed continuous shooting with absolutely no frame drops. Whereas in normal mode, the VR functionality offers a shutter speed 4.0 stops faster. Additionally, with a newly developed algorithm, barrel vibration transmitted to the hands helps reduce AF drive start/stops.
Electromagnetic diaphragm mechanism helps in stable exposure control even with high-speed continuous shooting. For quick and certain focusing, there are four focus function buttons and for better hold and shooting the zoom ring has been positioned near the front of the lens and the focus ring closer to the mount. Lastly, to switch between horizontal and vertical shooting operations, Nikon has adopted tripod collar ring.
Starting second week of November, the AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm f/2.8E FL ED VR will be available at Rs 161,950.
