New tablets launched in India in July 2013

There were only seven new tablets that were launched in India last month, which indicates the sluggishness of the tablet market here.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 (three tablets)

Samsung launched three tablets in July – namely Galaxy Tab 3 211 (7 inch screen), Galaxy Tab 3 311 (8 inch, 3G) and Galaxy Tab 3 310 (8 inch, WiFi), priced at Rs 17,745, Rs 21,945, and Rs 25,725 respectively.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 211 comes with a 7 inch display with 1024 x 600 pixel resolution. The 9.9 mm thick tablet has 300 gram weight. It has 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system, a 1.2 GHz dual core processor, 1 GB RAM, a 4000 mAh battery, 3 megapixel rear camera, and a 1.3 megapixel front camera.

The tablet comes with 8 GB internal memory, but there is a micro SD card slot to expand its memory by 32 GB. The Galaxy Tab 3 has SIM calling facility as well as WiFi connectivity. For data, you have to use WiFi.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 311 comes with (voice and data) connectivity apart from WiFi. It has an 8 inch screen with WXGA (1280 x 800 pixel) resolution. Besides, the 7.4 mm thick tablet has Android Jelly Bean 4.2, a 1.5 GHz dual core processor, 1.5 GB RAM, 5 megapixel rear camera, a 1.9 megapixel front camera, and a 4450 mAh battery.

Besides, it has 16 GB internal memory, which can be expanded up to 64 GB with a micro SD card. The tablet will have all the innovative features of Samsung like Multi Window, Smart Stay, Reading Mode and Pop up video.

The Galaxy Tab 3 310 has all the features of the Galaxy Tab 311, except 3G connectivity. However, it has WiFi connectivity for accessing the internet.

Lenovo Ideapad A1000

Priced at Rs 8,980, the Lenovo A1000 comes with a 1.2 GHz dual core Mediatek 8317 processor, 1 GB RAM, 4 GB internal storage and a micro SD card slot. The tablet is based on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system and has a 3500 mAh battery.

Swipe MTV Slash

Swipe, in association with MTV, launched this 7 inch tablet last month with 3G SIM calling facility for Rs 9,490. The Swipe MTV Slash features a 7 inch (1024 x 600 pixel) display, a 1 GHz dual core processor, 1 GB RAM and 4 GB inbuilt memory.

This Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean based tablet features 3G, WiFi and connectivity and dual SIM support. It also has a 5 megapixel rear camera and a front camera for video chat. MTV Slash tablet comes with a G-Sensor, accelerometer, proximity sensor, and it weighs 290 grams.

Domo Slate X2G

The X2G is equipped with 512 RAM and runs on a 1.2 GHz Cortex A8 processor. Backed by a Mali 400 GPU, the X2G is capable of delivering good graphics performance. Internal storage is 4 GB and it can take up to a 32 GB micro SD card. It is powered with a 3200 mAh Lithium Polymer battery and can charge through its USB port or the standard charging port. The operating system is Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.4 and it can be upgraded to Jelly Bean 4.1.

Priced at Rs 5,999, this tablet was launched early last month with a 7 inch display, Android 4.0 ICS operating system, and a 1 GHz processor.

This X-Pad X-722 is equipped with a 0.3 megapixel secondary camera and 2 megapixel primary camera. The tablet comes with 512 MB RAM and an internal memory of 4 GB, which is expandable up to 32 GB. It is powered by a 3,500 mAh Lithium polymer battery that claims to provide 4-5 hours of internet browsing time. It not only allows 2G calling but also has connectivity options like WiFi, Bluetooth and 3G accessibility via dongles.
